It's just Quark blowing smoke again. After using Quark, Pagemarker, InDesign 1.0 and 1.5, I have switch to InDesign 2.0 and will never look back. I give Quark 2-3 years before they are obsolete.

:)

Screenshot?

The screenshot never loads when I go to Quark's 6.0 preview page. Can someone post it?

It'll be wierd to see the old clunker look like it was made in 2003, not 1993. :D

It seems like they pulled it or coded the page to the wrong image.

The image being called is
series1.jpg

Probably won't load anything.

Thanks… but no thanks

Thanks for the link, KidRed.

Unfortunately, this [in-development] shot still looks like Qurap, even in Aqua.

Toolbars etc. still seem FLAT. Yeah, it's a tiny pic, but it still looks like it could use some more depth, like the treatment Adobe gave its latest apps (ie. the sculpted-looking toolbars in PS7, AI10, etc)

I'll just shut up now. Considering the company's brazen attitude toward Apple and it's users, Quark doesn't deserve any encouragement or advice.

No thanks, Quark.

I am confused. Are people happy that Quark might finally be able to bring Xpress to OSX or not? I havn't seen any positive remarks or posts regarding this anywhere!

MOST people don't give a rat's a$$ if Quark shrivels up and goes away since many have switched to InDesign. Others haven't switched, but they remain pissed at Quark. Can ya blame 'em? With Quarks amazing lack of service and rotten attitude in general, it's amazing that they would retain any loyalty at all.

Ok, let me rephrase the question. Is there anybody out there that is eagerly awaiting the update and will buy it when it comes out?

I just think that ANY major app coming to OSX is a very good thing as long as it means one less app Windows users won't say "it isn't available on the Mac".

I prefer InDesign, but I have to use Quark at work (for now). Right now I use Quark in the classic environment and I don't particularly like it, but it isn't the only program I use that I need classic for.

So, yes I will probably get Quark 6 (from v4, we're not bothering with v5) when it comes out, but I will still be pushing to migrate to InDesign.

I also see this as a good thing to provide some competition to Adobe. I do prefer InDesign, but it does have some shortcomings. An OS X compatible version of Quark will ensure that Adobe keeps improving InDesign.

On Topic:
i don't use quark. probably never will. adobe does well enough for me. but it makes me happy to see any major ap make the transition, no matter how late.

i often wonder about apple's relationship with adobe. they were relatively quick to update to OSX (illustrator was the 1st, i think), and they've been a solid supporter in the past. So apple rewards adobe by promoting the hell out of inDesign (remember the "free" giveaway with new PM?), but at the same time, drive a steak through Premiere's heart (and takes a jab at after effects, too) with FCP and FCE.
