Quark 6 in coca, due in summer

What about reports it was going to be out early 2003? A Quark source said it would be so. Have they reached a stumbling block? Or do they mean summer in the southern hemisphere?

many of the major design and advertising firms have already begun the switch to InDesign. By next summer, it won't matter what they release. It will be too late.

All the delays are good news for those that dislike Quark.

Though there are many companies that have not made the full switch to os x just so they can still use Quark, many have already switched to InDesign and I'm afraid for Quark it might be a case of "too little, too late....."

Quark too little too late

I was using quark about a year a go until I upgraded to OSX them 5 came along no OSX support, got InDesign as a competitive upgrade at half the price haven't use Quark to date.

If your service provider does not support InDesign just tell them that you will find someone who will and see how quickly they can support it.

Any ways I never like quark to begin with, it just a necessary evil but now is dead to me. I can care less what they put out it's an over pice bloated program.

As likely as it is that Quark are using coca, it's unlikely that they're re-writing XPress to use Cocoa. You can write Carbon applications which don't run on Mac OS 9.x. The languages by which access to Cocoa is granted are Objective-C and Java. XPress is probably written in C and/or C++ which have visual similarities to Objective-C and Java, but run much differently. It wouldn't be surprising to me that they've re-written major portions in C++ and will access Carbon through a thin layer to hide the operating system details.
