I am not a Mac user. I have an iPad 7th generation and an iPhone 11. I am wondering if IOS is capable of creating or having a Quartz PDF Context transferred to the Files and Folders app. I am running 14.0.1 but I’m curios about IOS and 13.6 having the capability to support the Quartz PDF?
Thank you

Not really sure what you're talking about. A regular PDF document created from a Quartz2D/Core Graphics application?
Apple's Quartz compositing system is generally transparent to the user

I’m actually not sure what I’m talking about either. Unfortunately. I will attach screen shots. Like I mentioned I am not a Mac user. I understand this PDF is developed by a Mac

Hi. I don’t use any social media at all. It’s a bit complicated. I have a Quartz PDF Context on my iPad 7th generation in the On my IPad folder. I keep iCloud Drive toggled off in settings. It’s dated in July but I didn’t notice it until late Sept when I was looking for something else using Spotlight Search. Prior to IOS 14 update. I am current on updates. I can’t include screenshots as it includes personal information. it is created using screenshots and pictures from my photos. I am able to edit it. I don’t know where it came from or how it would end up on my iPad.
Thank you

And this is not just the name of a regular PDF file? If you can open it and edit it, it would likely work on any iOS device including many versions ago - I can think of no recent changes to iOS that should make a difference on that front.

Would it perhaps be possible to create a screenshot of the file overview redacting the sensitive information? Just out of curiosity.

Quartz is only really something you're meant to know even is a thing if you like digging into the underpinnings of the system or write fairly specific Mac code. Quartz is also sort of a fluffy name since it covers a wide span of technologies in a way, but it's a fairly low-level system abstraction for drawing 2D elements on screen in a GPU accelerated way, and through the CoreGraphics framework is used by many applications to deal with PDF documents. - My assumption here is that this is just a regular PDF file where the application that created it had left some default name based on the PDF rendering system or something.

Yes, I could try to mark up the personal info and attach screenshots. It’s only on iPad not iPhone and I’m currently signed out of my iPad iCloud for about 2 hours. We’re doing some troubleshooting. No one seemed to know anything about that PDF. You’ve already assisted! I realize there’s a time difference, I’m PST, so whatever knowledge you can offer I appreciate . Is it possible the operating system could have created it on its own? I’ve tried recreating it many times. I really appreciate your help.

GMT+1 here, or UTC+1 depending on how you look at things. Or actually neither, but time is complicated and let's not worry too much about 0.17 seconds, for all intents and purposes, GMT+1... In any case I'm a bit of a night owl so time applies to me in weird ways, especially with COVID work from home.

In any case, I wouldn't think the OS could create it on its own on an iPad, no. The structure of the file system is not really set up in a way that the OS is supposed to create user-facing files; i.e. what's visible inside the files app is sort of containerised in a way that I'd find that very odd. - Though where is it located inside of Files? There's a chance an app on the device created it

Me too on the hours thing. I’m quite the night owl too! I just don’t sleep. It’s in the On my IPad folder of my Files and Folders Application. Again, not on the iPhone at all

iPad will remain on a temp ID until tomorrow. So I don’t believe I can connect to the site with my iPad.

* Ive already heard back and will be out of my ID on IPad at least until tomorrow. *

these ar ridiculous, but here are pictures of PDF. I can hopefully send actual screenshots from iPad soon. I’m not even sure you can see them.
thank you so much. X

I think I've kinda lost track of what we're trying to accomplish. To me this is now just about figuring out what these files are, but if there were anything else you wanted help with do just say; But I'm all in on figuring out what the whole quartz context thing's about

Yes, please ignore the additional information. I just won’t have accrss to the PDF for a day or two. I did take pictures of it with my phone and will post t em now.
my entire goal is to try and figure out this pdf. I’ll post pictures now. My entire goal is just to try and figure out what This PDF is and how it gut there. If it’s a ggfv mom lol p mo,? A

OK, so. This file is made on an iOS device running iOS 13.6. It’s made by the Photos app - and the whole QuartzPDFContext just refers to the underlying system that Photos uses to handle PDFs - all first party and most third party apps uses the same system in some shape or form. How it came to be, I can’t tell you, but it was likely a bunch of photos selected and using the share sheet some export as PDF option used - perhaps through Shortcuts or something. But it is just a regular file, nothing special about it.

Thank you. Here’s the current info. It does change. I appreciate all your help. I still can’t recreate it. I make my PDFs through the printer. Shortcuts, keynote, numbers, pages, GarageBand and iMovie are all deleted. Since 2/3:2020. I’ll keep practicing : )

I could recreate it. Go to Photos, pick a photo, go to the Share menu and click print - now open the Preview it shows, by pinching it large and tapping on it (honestly I always struggle getting it up I don't know if it's just super sensitive to pinching or you have to tap it a certain way or something), and then save that to Files

That definitely was longer than I thought! I’m going to have to remove it.

I’ve no idea what you tried to show me but you can send it as a private message if you want to send me something for my. eyes only. - But as far your question, this probably isn’t really an ideal way of creating PDFs generally if you’re just wanting to create PDF files generically. However, to answer your question I would assume that would work if you just marked several photos for sharing before hitting print

You happen to be interacting with a seriously tech challenged person. I did a screen recording of my creating that PDF but it had a lot of personal info in it. Also, I have no idea how to send you a DM. Does this site have the ability? Outside of this I don’t have any social media. I have one 3rd party app and a good 30% of Apple native apps are deleted. I’m going to work on creating a pdf that’s several pages . In the meantime any DM tips? I’ll send screenshot.
