Question about 9400m, RAM and Power in iMac

If I got the new 20-inch iMac with the Nvidia 9400m graphics card, and 2GB of RAM - then I later updated to 8GB of RAM - would I get heaps and heaps more speed/power or would the 9400m hold me back somewhat from getting more power no matter how much RAM I put in?
When I say speed/power - I pretty much mean in video editing and gaming.

You'd only get speed/power when pushing your RAM. I do both photography and videography on my 24"/2.8 with 4GB of RAM, and have NEVER used for than 3GB with multiple images open, video rendering, gaming, etc. I am a little surprised that Apple has bumped up the maximum RAM on these machines as I am unaware of why you'd ever need 8GB on a non-pro desktop. Perhaps when running VMware you could use more RAM as it needs it to run Windows and the VMware simultaneously.

your wasting your money with 8GB, You limitations will with the GPU/CPU. By the time 8GB is affordable, the 9400M will be junk (well is now). The should have put in a dedicated GPU in the imacs, not a laptop GPU.

The newer iMacs I believe offer options for upgraded video. You might want to look there if you are into video editing and gaming. RAM you can always add later as its user friendly. The 9400 offering you speak about is for generic use. It will and does work well for typical buys but not a good choice for gaming and any imaging that exploits the video chips.
