Will there be issues using one flash drive for both Apple and Windows-based computers? I am thinking about in the past where 3.5" floppies needed to be reformatted if used on one versus the other, and I haven't really ever tried a file transfer like that since that era. So, one flash drive to rule them all ok?

Yes, any USB flash drive will work fine w/ both OS X and Windows XP and 2000. No need for any drivers either. Just dont format the drive. FAT32 is fine for both OS

Yes, unfortunately FAT32 is still the best cross-platform filesystem. Thankfully OSX knows how to manipulate it in order to maintain much of OSX's "extras" such as file metadata, so it's an acceptable compromise.
