My wife has finally decided to get rid of all of our pc's and switch to mac. We are going to share our powermac. I set up an account for so she could have her own preferences,etc.... But, is there a way where we can share iphoto pics?? I would like for the same photos to be available whether you are under my account or hers. I realize I could save the pics to disk, and then she could import them. But, i would rather not take up the extra disc space. When I tried to import from iphoto (when i was logged in as her) it would not let me import off of my picture folder. Is this possible????

Move your Pictures folder to:

/users/shared

Once you've moved the the folder, make an alias of the folder, then move that back to your Home directory, and rename it "Pictures". iPhoto will think it's using the /users/yourname/Pictures folder, but it's actually using the shared directory. You'll need to make an alias in her Home directory as well.

there might be an easier way, but the iapps are pretty tightly integrated with X--

I am absolutely loving it. I bought an ibook when they first dropped to 999. my thinking was if i did not like mac, i was not out a whole lot of money. shortly after purchasing it, i realized i was hooked. (i think it was the first time i plugged in my digital camera and i photo opened.):p i sold that ibook to a friend, b/c i knew i was hooked and i wanted to move up. i bought a 17 inch imac. i loved it, but i wanted more power. i sold it on ebay. i still feel bad about the imac too. i sold it for 1799, and a week and a half later the new models came out. i then bought a powerbook. i now had the power i wanted in a sleek package. my daughter just turned four months old, and i realized that i would love to use imovie and idvd to capture all of the memories. i figured the powermac would be the way to go. i can upgrade or expand with ease. so i am new to the macworld, but i have owned a bunch of them already. :D i absolutely love the powermac. i bought a brand new dual 1gig w/superdrive for 1699 on ebay. i thought that was a heck of a deal. it is great, minus that it sounds like a helicopter is about to land on me. so far switching to apple has been great. i will never go back!
