I searched for this answer, but couldn't find it. Sorry if it's a repeat.

I was wondering how streamed or on the hard drive music and videos are sorted. Are they all sorted together and if it's on the hard drive it will play from there, and if not it streams from your computer? Or are there divisions between the two?

Can't speak for take 2, but currently it is based on the "source". If your remote library is selected as your source, then all content will stream from that machine, regardless of whether you've synced content to the apple tv.

Hmmm...so I would either select one of three sources--my iMac, my PowerBook, or my Apple TV-- and the content would come SOLELY from there? For example, if I had movies on my iMac that weren't on the hard drive on my Apple TV, in order to see them I would have to select the iMac source?

Exactly.
