question about blackrain in 3gs

when I JB with blackrain and 3gs on 3.1.2 (old bootrom) will I have to plug my phone in everytime it turns off, in other words is it tethered? Also will I have to restore my phone from backup to get all my data back or is my data still on the phone after I make it rain? What problems might I expect from the JB?

You just do a restore from "Official" Apple iPhone 3GS .ipsw which can be found pretty easy on the web (iClarified.com) to name one. iClarified actually has some good jailbreaking guides.

It's pretty painless if you are already on 3.1.2 and use Blackra1n.
