Question about Blu Ray rips

I just purchased a Blu Ray drive for my pc. I wanted to know from people who have ripped Blu Rays what is the quality of their rips?

Obviously it wont be the same as the original Blu Ray, but how does it compare to lets say itunes store HD movies? Is it up to par or does it surpass them? I am assuming that they are better since my regular DVD rips are better quality then itunes store SD movies.

A rip is exactly the same as what's on the disc.

Related question: If you rip/encode a BD at 1080p, and set the quality to be as close to the original as possible, what is a reasonable file size for a 90 minute movie?

When I transcode with Handbrake at 14 mbps there is no perceptible loss of video quality and the file size is about 60-75% of the original Blu-ray m2ts (video and AC3 or DTS audio).

Iirc, iTunes movies are 1280x720, so if you rip 1920x1080 off the BD you are going to see quite a bit more quality than the iTunes version.

OP didn't ask about ATV, only how they'd compare to iTS HD content. Even then, I can transcode a Blu-ray for the ATV that surpasses iTS HD.
