I have a friend who is knocking everyone who bought an iPhone. One of the things she claims is that you will be required to use that same device with NO ability to buy the next one if it comes out before your two year contract is expired. That sounds insane to me. As long as I finish my 2 year service at the rates I signed up for- or greater, why would they care if I bought the next phone at full price? Is she full of hot air?

Your friend is wrong. You can always buy a phone at full price. What the 2 years refers to is getting upgrade/discount pricing.

Thanks, thats exactly what I told her. Why on earth would they NOT want me spending another 500$?

Since January, I've had a Blackjack, KRZR, Blackberry Pearl, Treo 750, and now, an iPhone.

They're more than happy to sell you a new phone. You'll pay more than the two-year commitment price, though.
