I realize this is probably a really simple problem, but I was just wondering how to remove the Macintosh HD icon from the desktop. I have no reason for it to be there and I can't figure out how to remove it. Dragging it to the trash seems like it's going to eject the harddrive so to speak. probably not a great idea.

Thanks.

Go to the Finder menu, ->Preferences->Sidebar. Uncheck "Hard disks"

Muchas gracias.

Thanks for the extremely fast response, I knew it would be something simple like that.

Actually, you don't want the one under "Sidebar." You want the one under "General."

yessir.

I figured that out after he originally pointed out where to start looking. Thanks again for the nudge ;).
