I just bought a used pair of AirPods Pro 2.
When I got them, it still showed the previous users name when I connected them to my phone and it said "AirPods mismatch" under "find my". After some research I realized this meant the previous user hadn't removed them from "find my". I asked him to do this (which he said he did) and after resetting and reconnecting to my phone, all seems good.

My question:
Is there any way the previous owner can still have access to thees AirPods or track them through "find my" or iCloud?

Just a little paranoid about security since with the "AirPods mismatch" it said that the owner of the mixed up AirPods can see the location (or something like that)

Is there anything else I can do to ensure these AirPods are only connected to me and my account?

He removed them from his iCloud account so now they are officially yours and he could not track their position anymore.

To be completely sure check if you have all settings available in FindMy app for them - tracking, battery status, possibility to remove being tracked in FindMy etc.

When I bought AirPods Pro Gen1 I had the same situation and only after removing from his account I had no longer mentioned by you missmatch info and all said options on FindMy.

I'm just taking his word that he removed them his account I guess haha.

I see most options in findmy. Not battery status though. Is that normally seen in findmy?

Thanks. Yes, I am able to see all of those options.
But is there a way to know for sure the old user can't still track them? Probably just being paranoid

It’s everything ok. Moreover if someone could track you with an AirTag or AirPods Pro 2, after some time these devices would emit a sound and you would receive an alert to your iPhone.

Not if it was still connected to their own "find my" somehow. I think that's what got me thinking about this. And Apple seems to have no "surefire" way to know that these are only connected to your account.

Even the message you get when they are still connected to another person's as well (the "mismatch" message) is confusing.

Just annoying that AirPods aren't setup like all other Apple products when buying or selling used.
