I have a 28" LG LU28E590DS/ZA I'm using with my 2018 Mac mini. Currently I'm cabled HDMI 2.0 port on the Mac to HDMI on the monitor.

My question is will I get better performance if I go USB-C to DisplayPort?

TIA

"OK, are there any other benefits to using USB-C to DP instead of HDMI?"

Actually, there is a downside:
You LOSE the availability of one USB-c port.

If HDMI is working well, just keep using it...

Great.

I had been doing some reading and it seems there is no consensus as to which is better.

I do remember reading somewhere that DP also allows data transfer over the same cable, but I think HDMI does as well, yes? They definitely both do audio, so that’s not an issue.
