Goodday to you all!

Im new here.

Im having some trouble to decide wich Imac i should buy.

as you guessed its about Imac C2D 3.33 # ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB & quad i5 2.66!

I wonder which one will be faster! Ive read some topics here and there but
i still cant come to a conclusion.

Which of the 2 is faster?

isnt the c2d faster in other ways then the i5?

im gonna use the IMac for, graphic design, editing hd movies and probably playing around with some 3d programs!

Please help me out!

and by the way, if there are other people who got questions between those 2 setups feel free to ask!

I am pretty sure that the i5 is faster in every way then the C2D and if you are doing HD movie stuff I would go a step higher with the i7 if you have the extra $200 to spend.

Yeah, i was thinking about hat but still for me +/- 1730 euro is still allot of money for me!

Well, the i5 is the cheaper computer. It will also boost to a 3.2GHz. And the quad core can really help with your movie work. Save the money and buy the i5.

that boost will make 1 core run at 3.2ghz?

Not sure of your pricing but in the states the base 27" comes with a 3.06 C2D and 4670. To upgrade to 4850 cost $150 more than the starting price of 1699. To bump to 3.33 is another $200 which puts it over the base prices of the 2.66 QC of 1999 and that comes with the 4850!

i am sorry, i ment that the price of let's say the
c2d 3.33 with 4850 or qc 2.66 is allready allot for me!

but then spending another 168 euro (here in the Netherlands)
is maybe to much:)

but on the other hand i want to enjoy this mac at least for 2 or 3 years
and since you cant update anything except for the memory i might go for the i7
to enjoy everything to the fullest.

but first see how i will go trough this month.
(still student :D )

You can have a student discount, it will be 1.690.80€, it's almost 100€ less

I'm in the same situation as you (doing the same work, but not the hd movies lol)

but i've known since the first day that the i5 was the way to go, as a student not swimming in money lolol, but the effort of buying a i5 will compensate the longer years to work with the machine 4/5 years. so i think.
