I just purchased a new iMac 24" from my University's computer store.
I had them install extra memory, since their price was a lot lower
than Apple's. But I just noticed that they installed 667 mhz memory,
rather than 800 mhz memory. The machine is blazing fast, so I'm
not worried about speed. But should I be worried that the wrong kind
of memory might affect the system in other ways? Any advice
would be much appreciated!

At worst you will probably see a minor performance hit. This link refers to a Mac Pro running 667 in a system designed for 800. Your experience will probably be similar : http://barefeats.com/harper5.html

I'd still take it back and demand they install the correct memory. If nothing else return the memory and get your cash back. You can get 4GB of the right memory for well under $100.

Thanks! I think I will ask them to install the proper memory.
