my phone carrier is Rogers Wireless. I just got my iphone 3g couple days ago. I noticed when i turned off 3g and not in wifi range, my iphone starts using edge network.

My question is, is this free? do i get charged for using it?? I wasnt ever told about edge network so i dont know :-(.

When you pay for a data plan, it uses both 3G and Edge. So you're already paying for it. Edge is simply SLOWER than 3G, so it takes longer to load webpages, etc. It saves *a little* battery life by turning 3G off, but in my opinion, it's not worth it, as Edge is just so darn slow.
