Recently I bought an iphone 2g.

I haven't received it yet but i have a few questions.

1. When i get the iphone can i just plug it in and begin the Jailbreaking and unlocking process ?

2. If i put my Tmobile sim card and use the Aim App for the Iphone will i get charged for every IM I have if i do not have a plan ?

3. Will i get charged for going on the internet using WiFi if i do not have a data plan from Tmobile ?

4. I do not understand the Data plan such as 50 megabyte or 100 megabyte. What do i need the 50 and 100 megabyte for anyways ?

5. If i use meebo using safari will i get charged for the Im's i receive on meebo ?

Thanks for your help!

1. Yes
2. No idea, have you called T-Mobile? :)
3. Not sure why you would think this but if you use WiFi at home or traveling, that's your ISP or the hotspots, not T-Mobile. Unless you are using a T-Mobile hotspot of some sort but that's another question for T-Mobile.
4. Call T-Mobile and ask. The MB is how much data you xfer over the cellular network. AT&T is unlimited, not sure about T-Mobile plans since iPhone is not one of their devices.
5. IM's should be using data, not SMS. Unless T-Mobile is somehow different, again, call and ask. :)

1. You will need to put the phone in dfu mode and then follow the instructions with redsn0w

2. No if you're using wifi

3. No

4. 50mb and 100mb refer to how much data over the edge network you send and receive to browse the web etc.

5. Depends on whether youre using edge or wifi, if you're using wifi then no

If you use anything via wifi no one can charge you anything

1. When i get the iphone can i just plug it in and begin the Jailbreaking and unlocking process ? Well, you have to download Redsn0w and the restore IPSW. Use Google, find a tutorial (iClarified has one)

2. If i put my Tmobile sim card and use the Aim App for the Iphone will i get charged for every IM I have if i do not have a plan ? Not familiar with AIM, but if you text (just regular thru phone) you will likely get charged per message.
3. Will i get charged for going on the internet using WiFi if i do not have a data plan from Tmobile ? WiFi is free at WiFi hotspots or at home with Wireless network
4. I do not understand the Data plan such as 50 megabyte or 100 megabyte. What do i need the 50 and 100 megabyte for anyways ? If you use Edge (Tmob does not have 3G is US) you will get charged

5. If i use meebo using safari will i get charged for the Im's i receive on meebo ? Not familiar with meebo

Thanks for your help!

Okay! Thank you guys for the answers! So i have to ask T-Mobile guys if it costs money to use Aim App for ipod ? As long as i don't use Edge or the internet ( Hotspot) I won;t get charged. The jailbreaking and unlocking process seems easy.

So in conclusion: Won't get charged for using WiFi but what if the Tmobile guys don't know about the Aim APp and getting charged what do i do ?

You can use any WiFi hotspot for free with your phone. If it's a pay WiFi then you just pay for HotSpot service, not T-mobile.
