question about iphone6 /wifi speed

so i have a 300/20 mb connection,if i set my router to n ONLY i get 50-80 mbps download if i do mixed mode i get 121 mbs or so connected to the 5 ghz band

i don't get it why does the mixed mode work better for the iphone?

but my xbox one works the same mixed mode or n only using the wrt1900ac

the iPhone 6 works best on the wireless ac mode 5ghz which is faster than wireless n 2.4ghz. your xbox one can also use the 5ghz channel but will only pull the speeds of a instead of ac because thats the fastest one it supports. still faster than n.
