Question about Jailbreaking to 3.1 and the baseband update

I have a 3GS and I updated fine to 3.1 yesterday with a custom IPSW to Jailbroken 3.1 but the fact that there's no carrier logo and I keep on losing signal is annoying me. I had been reading the forum and I'm under the impression that the Baseband update is only bad if I want to unlock my phone?

I'm on O2 Ireland, the official network so I just want my iPhone jailbroken. If I restore to the official 3.1, is there any way to jailbreak it?

No JB yet for those at official 3.1, but should be coming soon.
