Why can't these programs just use the GoogleMaps API?

Why must they use Microsoft Virtual Earth?

I mean, it works okay in Loopt, but in NearBy its UNUSABLE.

Why? Well, because they can... and maybe because their original code works with the Virtual Earth better. I always find that Microsoft Live Maps are more up to date than Google Maps.

My house is 2 years old, my street is 2 and a half years old, it isn't on either.

They are both equally out of date.
