Recently we ordered an iPhone 8 from Apple that was sent to us via UPS that was never delivered to us. We live in rural AK so UPS shipments don't arrive on the date they're supposed to be delivered and we don't ever sign for them, the airline that ships them does at the time it's supposed to be delivered according to UPS, I'm told it's signed for at Anchorage. It may take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks for a UPS shipment to arrive after being signed for by the airline.
Well, 9 days after it showed as being signed for by the airline, we called the people that takes care of the final shipping about it and we were told that it left on the morning flight but, when the plane arrived the iPhone wasn't on there. We had a couple other UPS boxes on there and the local agent seen my son take them but neither were from Apple. We asked both the local agent and the airline that ships UPS to here about it and neither said they had it.
So, my question is before contacting Apple to see if we can get another phone at no charge to us is, is there a way to see if anyone stole it and is using it right now? I know we would need to activate it with Apple during the setup. Would Apple divulge info on the phone we bought if someone else activated it?
TIA

Shipments via UPS from Apple are insured which is why they must be signed for. Contact Apple about the non-delivery and let them handle it. They will advise you what to do.

I just checked to see if it was activated. It hasn't been activated yet. We'll be contacting Apple shortly. Thank you, chscag.

Apple is sending another phone. When we asked if there is other shipping options we were told we could pick any carrier so we chose USPS. Apple sent it UPS, again...

Here's hoping you have better luck this time. Apple has a contract with UPS which gives them lower shipping rates. The US Post Office would cost more to insure an iPhone 8 than it costs with UPS. The US Post Office delivary for insured items is safer than UPS or FedEx though.

If they had sent it Priority Mail it would've arrived anywhere from 5 - 8 days. With UPS it''ll arrive in to Anchorage in a couple days and then sit there until UPSs estimated delivery date, maybe a week later. Then Ryan Air will sign for it as being delivered but won't send it right away to their Nome offices for another 3 - 5 days and from there it will be delivered to us anywhere between 1 - 8 days later. Those extra days a UPS shipment has a good chance of getting lost.
Fedex would have been better than UPS too, but they transfer to USPS in Anchorage and don't provide a tracking number from Anchorage. I too hope it arrives this time. Thanks.

Wouldn't Apple know when it is registered?

Probably not since that would be between you and your carrier not Apple. However, as the previous post said; sending it back to Apple is the right thing to do. Make sure when you send it back that you use tracking and get a signature.

Contact Apple and send the first phone back. If you don’t, you will probably get charged for it, if you try and use it. In addition, do the right thing regardless.

That's what I thought. Contacted Barclay to see if we could finance the second iPhone along with the first one. Won't know until maybe tomorrow if we'll have to send it back.
