Since it is very likely that a mac mini with an intel processor will be released on the 28th Feb, I have a question to ask:

I bought my G4 Mac mini on the 5th of December 2005, and I know that apple do a service where if you buy an item a few months before an upgraded version, you can get this new version "free". I was wondering if this would apply to my mac mini or not, as it is rather annoying to know that it has been replaced with a new version less than three months after buying it.

Thanks for any help.

There is no such service. If you buy and don't open something, you can return it within 10 days (or two weeks... I forget). You'll not find a computer manufacturer who will replace any products which are updated within three months of purchase. It would imply that, anytime they release a new product, they lose all of the revenue from that line over the past quarter because everyone gets to exchange their product for free. The closest thing to this I've seen is the ability to update certain software to the latest version for ~$20, and that's in rare situations.

No, this won't happen with your mac mini. They did that program for upgrading iLife 05 to iLife 06, but they won't for your mac mini. To do that, they would have to totally re-build your computer from the ground up or give you a completely new one.

Don't worry about the fact that intel ones are probably coming out. If what you have serves your purposes, then be happy with it. I just bought an iBook despite the fact that intel ones are coming out within a few months because I don't get revision A computers anyway.

I think what he is referring to is apple's guarentee that if they upgrade the product after you purchase it but before it gets to you, they will upgrade it for you for free. You couldn't upgrade the computer you got. I'll add a link in edit if i can find one. If i can't find this from apple i will just find other content to put here.
