i just got my macbook earlier today. i noticed that it should have came with 60 gigs...however, when i check my available HD space, it says 38.8 was available. isn't that a bit...too low?

There's lots of apps that come with the MacBook... Front Row, PhotoBooth, etc that were never on previous iBooks.. to get lots of space back, delete apps you wont use... you can clear a few gigs of apps I'm pretty sure. Also, download the app DeLocalizer to free up over a gig of extra languages if you wont need them.

Don't do this lightly. Once their gone, their gone.
You could burn the unwanted apps on to a CD and then trash them.
You never know.....
