iPad Pro Question about magic keyboard

Just bought a MK and was just wondering about the USB connector on the side.

Is this just to charge the case or does it charge the iPad too?

If not connected does the iPad charge the keyboard or are they treated separately if that makes sense?

It will charge the ipad. Remember the magic keyboard conects via the smart connector and draws all of it's power from the ipad so it doesn't need to be charged seperatley.

The advantage of having that extra USB-c port on the side is that you can use other peripherals (like an external drive) in the main USB-c port while your iPad is charging in the extra port.

The Magic keyboard doesn't have a battery, so it cannot be charged.
