Hi! I bought the first M1 MacBook Pro with 16gb ram and 1tb storage in 2020 when it came out.

According to Apple website, the maximum cycle count for my Mac is 1000, where when it reaches 1000 cycles it should still have 80% of its original charge capacity. This is worrying to me.

On my system report, it says I have 300 cycles and 83% max capacity. Otherwise normal condition.

Is this normal? Does that mean that by the time my Mac reaches 80% max capacity, I have gone through another 700 cycles?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

83% is your current max hold on your battery from the original 100% when you bought it.

Not all batteries are created equal. If your battery falls below 80% under 1000 cycles its due to be replaced by apple as it did not meet the standard as you said. 1000 cycles and still have 80% capacity.

I wouldn't worry to much about it until it gets to under 80%, as their is very little that you can do about it. Enabling optimized charging is the only thing I think you can do.

Hope that helps.
