Question about Messages/iMessage

So in the keynote it was mentioned that it doesn't matter whether you use your phone number or your Apple ID. So if I'm using my number for iMessage, will the chat logs sync with my Macbook? Because right now I'm using iMessage with my number but it doesn't sync because I'm guessing it's cause I'm not using my Apple ID. Will that be bypassed in Mountain Lion?

It seems like as long as you've linked them, iMessages sent to your phone number will also be sent to your Mac and iPad. Whether you can start a message on your Mac or iPad/iPod using your phone number is a different story, but it does fix the multiple chat logs issue that currently plagues iPhone users.
