how do i find the server ip address??

If you're on the same network (i.e., a local network with IP addresses assigned by a router), you should be able to look it up on the router's DHCP list. If you're in Windows, open a command window and type 'ipconfig' and it will list your IP address. In OS X:

1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences... . In System Preferences, from the View menu, select Network.
2. In the Network preference window, click a network port (e.g., Ethernet, AirPort, Modem). If you are connected, you'll see its IP address under "Status:".

If you're looking to access a computer behind a router remotely though, you'll need to know what the IP address of the router is- I imagine on most you can look on the router, or go here and it will tell you your IP address as the outside internet sees you.
