Hi All,

I had a quick question. My MB is sick as of late, and I don't think it's anything to severe, so that is a good thing. However, I was wondering if I take it into a Genius Bar at my local apple store, do I have to uninstall my 3rd party RAM that is in the notebook or can I just leave it in there? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Mike

Hi
removing your third party ram and testing you machine performance, might save you a bit of time/troubleshooting before you go to the genius bar. One of the first things the genius will check for is probably ram, remove it, test etc. by doing it yourself you can potentially save yourself a trip, or at least some time over at the Apple Store.

To answer more directly, you DO NOT HAVE TO remove it, yet it can eliminate an excuse for a genius to send you packing and blaming everything on the ram. :)

Good luck!

i recommend removing it, or at least having the original RAM with you when you go to the Genius Bar. Geniuses have told me they are instructed not to service any computers with 3rd party RAM. you can take your chances, or you can play it safe and swap back in the original RAM.
