question about performance

I have a Macbook Air and am considering getting a mini. My Air is a 2011 model with 1.8 GHz Intel Core i7, and 4GB RAM. How would this compare, performance wise, to a mini with a 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 and 8GB ram?

I don't do any gaming and graphics are not important to me, but I do a lot of multi tasking with lots of different apps running at the same time.

Hmm...

I would think that the biggest disappointment for you would be going from SSD back to a HDD. If you configure your mini with a SSD you would probably be quite pleased with the relative performance for your stated use.
