So I have a question about my ipad photos. So, since I have problems with anxiety and some ocd problems, I end up sometimes having issues of being really worried about something bening missing or gone, so I always have to screenshot tons of things, As a result, I now have nearly 110000 pictures, and is using up almost all of my nearly-full 128 GB Ipad. I have only 0.3 GB left until it’s completetly full, and I don’t know what to do.

What I’m mainly wondering is if theres anyway for me to store my photos somewhere where it doesn’t use any ipad storage? I know theres an option to use the Icloud, but theres a problem with that; my Icloud is the same as my parents’s Icloud, and I don’t think ths Icloud has enough storage for my photo either. If I put it on Icloud, I’m worried it’ll be stuck on my parents devices, making them able to see all the screenshots and kow what I do on my ipad, and will make itm impossible for them to find their own pictures, and screw over their own storages and the icloud storage. I need something that has enough storage to keep my screenshots and does not use icloud or would damage my ipad in any way. I’m not sure if such a thing exists, but it’d be really helpful.

If this is not possible, then what other options do I have? through searching up, I found that there are ipads with higher amount of storage, but I always get really worried and stressed about getting new ipads because i’m worried it will mess up the iclouds even more than they already are or that some stuff wouldn’t back up right and disappear on the new ipad. I believe my ipad also isn’t fully backed up either, and I’m not sure if I could back it up without it using up more storage than I have. Alternatively, I could delete all the photos as ling as theres a way to delete them all at once. I’d rather not have to do this because I sometimes use the screenshots to find old stuff, plus I’d get anxiety about losing it all, espicially when it might theortically possible to save them by getting an ipad with higher storage. But if I have no other options, I will do it. But I’m also wondering if there’s any other options?

They do sell flash drives that can connect to the lightning port of an iPad you could put them on.

Google Photos doesn't limit how many photos you can back up online.

It’s also worth mentioning that your parents likely have a different Apple ID than yourself- at least they should. If you don’t share your iCloud images with them, they won’t see them. Double-check this with Apple if you like - but ultimately if they don’t use the same ID you should be fine. Storage space is affordable. I store all my images on iCloud, and that’s way more than my iPad has capacity.

Are the only copies of your photos on your iPad?

When I have new pictures I download them to my iMac with Image Capture. The iMac pictures are then backed up to 3 places, 1 being a safe deposit box. I just keep selected photos on my iPad.

They’re only on my Ipad.

Every time I look in my photos list, it only lists it as having part of my pictures (the number changes every time) and says its restoring the rest. Is that gonna be a problem? Is that gonna make it impossible to move or get rid of my pictures?

Are the bulk of your 100k+ photos screenshots? Can you delete a few thousand to free up space?

The obvious answer is to delete photos. You may take lots of screen shots in the moment, but if you go back a month or more, how many of those screen shots still are meaningful or useful to you? Ask yourself, "Why did I take this shot?" If you can't come up with an answer, delete it! Delete it now, not next month, or next year, because the longer you delay, the harder it will be to sort through what you have.

If you have 110,000 photos now, how many will you have ten years from now, a half-million? You won't have the time to sort through all of them - whether you're in college or working, raising a family... you're just going to be too busy. Maybe when you're 75 years old and retired you'll have the time, but how many photos will you have by then?

It makes me wonder what will happen if/when people start recording video of every moment of their lives (everyone has a body cam)? How much storage would that require? What AI techniques will be necessary to catalog and locate the "important stuff?"

Well, now I have another problem with this now. For some reason now it’s restoring every picture... three times. It’s literally putting three screenshots in for each. I don’t know how to stop this now, or how to get rid of all my pictures at all if they aren’t even all getting on my ipad properly and can’t get on it either because its making clones of them now.

Yes, it’s pretty much all screenshots.

It’s because of OCD, not for any reason that I actually want 90% of this. If I don’t take a screenshot of something I get a lot of anxiety about it.

It’s all screenshots btw, not photos.

Do you ever go back and look at them? How many months/years do they go back? If years worth, I'd get rid of anything that predates 2019. If it's a matter of months, I'd get rid of anything before July.

I get that it's a OCD thing....but what do you think you need them for? What are you taking screenshots of? On a logical and practical basis, no one needs 128GB worth of screenshots.

If it’s really OCD, are you getting help? If not and it’s just a MR way of saying you collect stuff with no meaning, it might be a good time to introduce change.

Rarely.

I’m not getting help. Idk what you mean by MR, but the collecting thing is kinda like hoarding in a way. I think that’s like something that comes from OCD? I’m not really certain but I’ve had other problems with stuff that defitenly are like OCD, so I assume it is.

At this point now though, the problem is that I have no idea how I’m even gonna fix this since only a small amount of the photos show up so idk how I’d even delete them all.

Sorry, I meant MacRumors with MR. It’s quite popular these days for saying one has OCD when one really means to say you care a lot about sorting for example.
In the same fashion people “love” something, particular in North America, when they really like something.

Why dont you offload these images on to your computer by connecting it with the cable?
