I just ordered a revB iMac G5 20" and plan to run Photoshop. It will arrive with a Gig of RAM and a 250Gig HDD. Will this work out okay? The reason I ask. is that some people claim to run PS on a Powerbook while others claim that you need dual processors and as much RAM as the Powermac will hold. I like the looks and reviews I have read on the iMac and if it will not run PS smooth, I just wont bother with PS.

Someone that bought a Powermac dual 2.5 with an obscene amount of oiptions. I like the iMac and it fits my budget because my present PC is going to die real soon and I could not swing the money for a PM and a new monitor. Thanks for the quick response!

I worked with 300+ MB images in Photoshop with only 512 mb of ram just fine and later with 1gb which showed better performance. But even with 512, my 1.5 ghz PB handled my yearbook cover file better than my 2.0 GHZ P4 with 512 MB ram Dell.

Illustrator is the killer! Once you start adding hundreds of paths and effects; damn, it kills my emac! But photoshop is a really great program in that it is very usable at all sorts of GHz levels - you might just have to wait longer for things to happen but it is predictable and doesn't feel like it is going to crash on you.
A 2Ghz G5 with 1GB ram should give you no worries at all - make sure you post again when your worries are blasted away by an awesome computer with an awesome operating system.

I run Photoshop CS2 very comfortably on an 800MHz iMac G4 with 512 RAM. As long as the file sizes are sane (<2048x1536) it'll run fine on the "Minimum" system requirements. Just be a little more patient.

Moving the screen around in either full screen mode, too me is choppy and sluggish in CS2 (I'm using the demo).
CS1 works like it always has even when scrolling in full screen mode. I played with the Win XP demo and it has problems. The XP version has problems not with moving an image in full screen mode, it's the filter dialog bow that has the same choppiness that my OS X verison has moving an image around.
For the most part, CS2 works well with my 1.2 Ghz CPU upgrade but it feels a tiny bit slower than CS1. Maybe an update sometime soon.

photoshop runs great even on ibooks, ull be fine since u have an imac that has specs way better than the ibooks
