Hi, I have a Rev A Macbook with the usual 512MB of RAM. I wanna upgrade it to 2GB, I was looking through the web and found this at Fry's:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz CL5 200-Pin SO-DIMM Patriot Signature PSD22G667SK
PATRIOT:
FRYS.com #: 4789099

Patriot Signature DDR2 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300 (667MHz) Non-ECC Unbuffered SODIMM
The Patriot Signature DDR2 667MHz Non-ECC Unbuffered SO-DIMM is designed to support high performance notebook and mobile systems. The Patriot SO-DIMM memory modules are fully tested and validated at 667MHz (PC2-5300) to ensure reliable performance and compatibility. These memory modules are perfect to meet the needs of those requiring memory upgrades.

Do you think it's a good deal? And what does unbuffered mean?
Help, please

I've used Patriot brand memory in all the intel macs that require ddr2 so-dimms , I've owned in the past year or so and have had no problems with the memory at all. I purchase all my ram from newegg.

Unbuffered is standard for non-ECC RAM. You only see Buffered RAM in servers and workstations, like the Mac Pro.

The Patriots might work for you. Fry's isn't famous for guaranteeing Mac compatibility however. Consider going with a Mac-friendly vendor who will guarantee compatibility, and give you a no-cost return or exchange if it doesn;t work. You can get guaranteed Mac-compatible RAM for $99 - $135 per Gb, including shipping. USA vendors that MacRumors recommend often are OWC and Data Memory Systems

Thanks

I bought the exact ones on NewEgg during the rebate promotion for $215 ($195 after $10x2 rebate) and it works perfectly on my MB. :D
