I'm thinking about getting an iMac and I've been waiting for this for so long but I couldn't afford it and I was waiting for my windows computer to stop working. lol. My windows computer has been acting up lately. Sometimes it doesn't want to start and it just restarts over and over, there are times when I turn it on and the moniter has the orange light which means its not getting the signal and sometimes the computer turns off out of no where! I have had it with this computer and I can't wait to buy an iMac.

I'm so tempted to buy the refurbished 20 inch 2.4GHz iMac but the only thing that keeps telling me not to get it is the hard drive size. I want at least 500gb because I take a lot of pictures and record a lot of video. I have read that some refurbished iMacs come with a 500gb hard drive is that true? I have also read about the 20 inch moniters not being as good as the 24 inch? What's the difference between these two? I can't wait to own my first iMac.

for the hdd u can just buy an external or if u really want buy an internal but the displays my brother has a 17 and i think thats big enough and we have them at my school and 17 is good enough and we do lik everything lik every app u can get for a mac thats what we use and so im sure 20 or 24 is good but what kind of imac are u going to buy the white intel g5 or the greyish one?

Exactly as the other poster said above, an external drive will look after your photos and videos - I'm looking at buying a 1TB one at the moment!

Yeah, it seems there have been some issues with the 20 inch screens in the past, hopefully a recent purchaser will come along to let you know how they are now.

I went for the 24 inch and it's the best buying decision I ever made, the screen in flippin' glorious! If you can at all afford a 24 inch refurb I would definitely recommend it, you'll love it.

i cant say about the displays cause i use photoshop flash and alot of other apps on my macbook 13.3" and i only have a 15 on my imac so yea :D

I forgot about the external hard drive! :O I am so tempted to buying an iMac right now!! :O I think I will just wait a little more and think about this. Do you guys think the new iMac will have big improvements? If not when do you think a new iMac with big improvements will come out?

I have owned a 20" Imac 2.4Ghz refurb since Friday and have to say that it is fantastic!!

Yes, there are a number of these that come with a 500GB hard drive (I should know, mine did:D) and 2GB of ram (rather than 1GB). It has been really good value for money!!

With regards the update, who knows?? The rumours have been out for weeks about this so called "upgrade" that it is due any time now but I could not be bothered waiting as I don't believe it will be enough to warrant me spending the extra £££ for a new one when I could get a refurb cheaper.

I just got my 24" refurb yesterday and my only recomendation to you is BUY BUY BUY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is probably the best purchase that i have ever made. it was the easiest thing to switch over too. irt recognised all my stuff without me even having to put in any install disk.

Oh yeah and mine came with 500gb instead of the 320 i ordered.

LOL

oh mah i bet ill be tracking the imac when i buy it! ill be checking the website like every hour!

just buy one its pretty easy for me to buy referb cause theres a store in winnipeg where i live but the newest i saw so far was a g5 imac everyones keepin there ****** intels

I just got a 20' refurb new generation

and although i love it, i'm very disapointed with the picure quality on the videos. Everything seems a bit grainy. Im going over to the apple store today to see if this is just mine or the way they are intended to be. Id rather watch the videos on my old 10 year old sony tv because their sharper . Is this normal?
