I purchased my first Mac, a 20 C2D imac, from Amazon in September, and it had the buzzing sound that some other people have complained about, it also would only burn DVD at 2X speed. Apple agreed to replace it, and had me send them the imac. Apple then sent me a refurbished imac in a brown box, and this imac has a different serial number then my first one. The letter they sent me stated that Apple was going to provide me with a replacement unit.
Is this normal Apple policy to replace a new computer with a refurbished one?
I would be okay if they had repaired my imac and returned it in the original box. I just do not feel it is right to replace a new computer with a refurbished one that Apple sells at a discount. Also without the original box I can not even send it back to Amazon.
