I feel a little stupid asking this question, but I just found out that my roommate has been using my brand new imac for viewing porn. I know its just porn, but Im really pissed about it. Anyway, I don't want any record of his porn endeavors lurking around on my HD. I know its not doing any harm, but its the principle of it I suppose. So if I boot up from the osx disk, erase the HD, and then restore from time capsule, will this eliminate whatever he has been looking at, or will the time capsule just put it right back on there. Thanks.

It depends if the TM has backed up since 'porngate'. My guess is that it has, so it will restore as it is now. As long as it was just streamed then there should be no lasting damage to your Mac. I would forget about it, and put a password on your Mac.
He probably was streaming content, but the way I found out was that he has a bunch of porn files on a USB and he forgot to remove the USB before I got home. Would time machine back up files on a USB?
he siad he was looking at videos and pictures on the internet too, but that he was doing it in private mode. Do I need to be concerned about that content too? I know its stupid that I'm worried about this, but who knows what kind of crap he was looking at.
are you trying to preserve the "virginity" of your iMac? lol Unless he downloaded files and you shouldn't worry about it. If he watched the videos off the usb, just delete the previously watched history. If you watched it online in non-private, just delete the history of visited sites. I think you're going a little over-board about this, even thinking about re-formating your HD to wipe away the evidence... Are you afraid someone might look through your comp and go "hey, you're a sick little pervert, you!" ? Best of luck trying to maintain the purity of your machine
