i just got my iMac and i was woindering.....with safari is there any sort of button i can click to open a new tab?? is there no way to open a tab without using a keyboard shortcut, go to the file menu or command-click.........??
Command+T is your friend
Command+Shift+left or right switches to the left or right tabs as well.
All the other suggestions are good ones (and to be honest, what I use). There *is* however a new tab button.
Right click or ctrl-click on top of one of the existing buttons (the back/forth, the reload, etc). Select customize toolbar from the menu. Drag the new tab button wherever you want it. Done.
This is what it looks like:

That button seems to be missing from Safari 3 beta. I had checked the customize toolbar menu before I gave the OP my suggestion. I could have sworn there was a new tab button as you have shown.
odd.
SafariStand adds it as an option![]()
