Question about screen replacement

If I bring in my iPhone 6 to an Apple Store to get the cracked screen replaced, do they replace it on the spot or do they mail it in to a repair center?

If the screen needs replaced at the apple store, they will replace the screen and give it right back. Takes about 40 minutes for them to do it.
