hi everyone,
i just recently upgraded my new 2.4 mbp's ram to 4gb leaving me two 1 gb to spare. I was thinking about selling the old ram.... is that a good idea? - i read around, but it seems a little strange keeping the ram around just in case i need to send my system back for repair... and even then, changing ram doesn't void applecare does it?

anyhow, 2 questions.
1. what is a good selling price? (i am currently thinking 100 dollars canadian for 2 1gb sticks, is that under or over or just right?)
2. i got an inquiry... will the ram work with a macbook Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz system?

thank you much.

I hate to say this, but I think you are best off keeping the old RAM. Changing the RAM by itself does not void the AppleCare warranty. However, if you ever need to send in your machine for repair, there are two reasons to take out the new RAM and put in the original: a) Apple may blame the problem on your non-Apple RAM (which I am assuming you have) and b) The machine may not come back with the extra RAM ;). I have always taken out my extra 1GB (Crucial RAM) when sending my iBook in for repair - it has 256MB built into the motherboard so I cannot sell the original if I wanted to.
