Hi All,

This is perhaps a dumb question, but I wanted to make sure it's the right thing before I go do.

My every day phone is an iPhone 5S on iOS 7.1.2 jailbroken. I haven't restored this device since August 2014 - needless to say I have accumulated a lot of crap on it since then, especially since it's a 64GB.

I really like my iPhone 5S and do not want to upgrade to a 6 or 6S because I don't want a bigger phone, so upgrading device is not an option.

I know I have 2 options on restoring. I can plug it into iTunes and restore myself to iOS 9.whatever. The other option would be to use a Semi-Restore (which I've never done before). But it would hold myself on iOS 7.1.2 if I understand correctly.

So my question is 2 fold.

1. I can semi-restore an iPhone 5S on iOS 7.1.2?
2. Does the semi-restore delete the data as well as a factory restore through apple would? Or is it still findable?

Thanks for your knowledge!

Research ilex R.A.T available in cydia. I used it multiple times back in the day. You will be restored, but will retain your Jailbreak. At this moment I can't recall what exactly you'll retain. But it's way better than moving to 9xxx and losing the jb

Edit: I just looked for it in cydia and can't find it, so it's probably being hosted on a repo I'm not using..... www.ilexrat.com

Thanks for the quick response. I checked it out and the website says it only works through iOS 6. Not 7.

Semi restore works on 7 too I believe.
