Question about shared albums and new phones

When I upgrade to the new iPhone in the fall, I'd like to start fresh and set up my new phone as a new phone rather than restoring from a backup. I've read a lot about the software glitches that accumulate over the years so that's the reason I'm leaning towards starting from scratch.

However, I have 10 or so shared albums each with nearly 1000 photos/videos of my son. I'd like to preserve those as I don't keep the full resolution photos on my phone; I clear them off every month leaving only the shared albums. These albums are also shared with a half dozen or so family members.

So, is it possible to re-add these shared albums after setting up a new phone?

And I'm asking this in this forum since I'll be on iOS 9 when I do this.

Also, FWIW, I'm on Windows.

The shared albums are connected to your Apple ID/iCloud Account. They show up on every Mac, iPhone, iPod and iPad you have. That said, they will also show up on any device you set up as new, even if you erase the one you created them with.
Don't forget that even though you are setting up your device as new, to backup your old phone. That way if anything goes wrong you can restore. If everything goes without problems, then you can just delete the backup. Better to be safe than sorry!

The iCloud for Windows should support Shared Photos (I'm not on windows so I can't verify this), but this should allow you to have an extra copy of your photos.

Ok. Thanks. Good to know. Sounds like, more than likely, it should come back after setting up a new phone. But, I always have the backup I can restore if for some reason, they do not come over.
