Hey guys!

I'm so far loving my MacBook Air. Best laptop I've ever owned (in my opinion)!

Anyways, I had a question about sleep mode.

Yeah, so I get the whole part about that I set my laptop to go to sleep in 5 minutes, and if I close the lid it'll go to sleep, and the little light at the bottom starts to pulse, etc.

But in sleep mode, my battery seems to drain extremely fast!

For my old Gateway M275 laptop while in sleep mode, it would probably lose about 5-7% of it's battery in a day's duration.

With my MacBook Air, I just came back to it tonight after a day's worth of sleeping, and my battery was down to 16% from 29%. And to check, it was indeed sleeping!

Is this normal, or is it my imagination?

Thanks! :)

I am having the same issue. I only noticed it after applying the most recent OS X update. Overnight, it drains about 20-30 percent. The Genius folks weren't sure what was going on so they are planning to replace the battery.

I have noticed the same issue. I typically use it on battery power at night from full charge and then put it to sleep overnight unplugged. Upon opening the next morning I'm surprised at how much has drained. Will test it tonight to see just how bad it is.

I lose about 10% if i let it sleep overnight.

Shutting it down completely drains 3% per day for me.

How do you lose charge with the computer completely off?

Rechargeable batteries are a completely different technology than the Alkaline batteries most people are familiar with. Unlike Alkalines, a rechargeable battery drains power at a much more noticeable rate even when sitting there doing nothing. Think of it as having a harder time holding on to it's charge compared to an Alkaline (which still does the same thing only much slower).
