Hey,

I have my entire movie collection ripped from handbrake onto my 1 TB time capsule. I was wondering if I got an Apple TV, if it is possible to stream from the time capsule to the apple tv. Any ideas?

You cannot directly stream from Time Capsule to Apple TV, but you stream in a process that is very similar.

Time Capsule -> iTunes -> Apple TV

First go to your iTunes preferences and go to the Advanced tab

Uncheck "Copy files to Music folder when adding to Library"

Now go to File -> Add to Library and select each of your movies OR you can just drag them

This gives iTunes a link to each one of your movies located on your time Capsule without copying the movie into iTunes.

After you have done this you can stream to your Apple TV without those movies taking up hard drive space on your computer or Apple TV.

Hope this helps

I haven't bought the Apple TV yet, and if I can;t get an answer, I probably won't, do you know how I could do it?

Store your movies on your Time Capsule and have them as aliases in your iTunes Library by dragging them all in and pressing the Option key (ALT).

Then, in your Apple TV preferences just select the movies you want to copy and the rest will be synced.
