I currently have a Touch, but I'm thinking about perhaps getting an iPhone when the new ones come out. I'm afraid to buy any apps that may involve saved progress over time, since I'm not sure if saved games will transfer. My question:

If I get an iPhone and sync that to my iTunes account and apps, will all the saved progress transfer. Specifically, I'm thinking about picking up Myst and/or Zenonia, but probably won't be able to finish them prior to getting the iPhone.

I just switched from a touch to an iphone last week, and my data did not transfer (specifically from SimCity, Lose It, and Cha-Ching). Someone on here told me to just do a backup on my iphone through itunes using the last touch backup. Unfortunately, that did not work because then it recognized my iphone as a touch, which I didn't want lol. So...I did lose all of my data :(

Bummer.

Unrelated:
Any word on what the new iPhones will be like? I've heard rumors that there will be a $100 iPhone. Is there any validity to this? That is really the only reason I'd get one.

I've noticed the same thing even when restoring. It begs the question: what is it backing up every time you sync that it takes so long?

It makes no sense and I would figure the saved data would exist inside the app itself. I would say it needs to be fixed but who know how long a sync would take after this!

I've swapped between a Touch (1st gen) and iPhone (3G) several times, and never had any problems restoring data. I just backup one device, then plug in the other device and restore from the backup of the first device. I haven't had iTunes thinking my Touch was a phone or vice versa. And I haven't lost any app data, either.
