I was at Best Buy the other day and looking at some HP laptops just to see the 15.4" screensize.

Well they were all GLOSSY screens..and I do mean GLOSSY. They showed reflections like crazy!

I thought I heard that the MBPs glossy screens were not nearly as reflective as other notebook glossy screens.

Anyone care to comment?:)

When I put the brightness above a certain level I can no longer see the reflections from the screen.

Well, the first days you get the mbp with the glossy screen..it annoys you..it reflects your face..but in time you get used to it..and then you cant even notice the glare..and you rather focus on whats your working on ..=D

The MBP screens aren't nearly so bad. HP, as you have seen, likes to make their consumer laptops REALLY REALLY glossy.

The MBP glossy screens can still show reflections, but they don't have nearly as much as the HP ones do.

HP and other mainstream notebook makers do tend give the impression that they've poured a bucket of high-gloss fluid over their LCDs. The MBP glossy is quite a bit more subtle.

I had glossy ... I had a glossy MBP that had really uneven brightness and the Apple store said they would swap it for me. I then asked if I could get a matte screen instead of glossy and they said that was fine. I'll take the matte any day over the glossy. Since then I've never had to think twice about where I'm sitting or stair at myself while waiting for an app to boot up. The glossy just doesn't make since to me. If they have never made glossy for the iMacs ... ACD ... or really any other stand alone displays I've seen, why put them on the laptops.

Sorry ... just got a vent out.

On a side not I did have a black MB and the glossy wasn't even an issue. Seems the bigger the screen gets the more of an issue the glare is.

Have a great day! :D
