I know someone who was asking if I would be interested in their m7 , the back button doesnt work. They upgraded to a new phone and wanted to know if I was interested. I am not familiar with it since I use Galaxy phones but is this something that could be fixed fairly easy? I could probably get the phone for 50-75 bucks.

I have replaced screens on numerous iphones and galaxies so I would have no issue opening it up if needed

The One M7 is a great phone, but it's extremely difficult to repair yourself. This is also a known issue.

Some say it's software and that there were a few updates to try and fix it. But others are still having the problem. If it's pretty cheap though, you may be able to install a toolbar and use on screen buttons similar to the new One, or any Nexus phone as a workaround. Aka, on screen navigation bar.

Perhaps try a factory reset and make sure there aren't any screen protectors on it. Some had issues with that too.

You could use Swipe Home Button together with Tasker to create your own back button function which would work over any screen/app, just like having a real back button. For example you could set it to go Back when you swipe diagonally up and left from the HTC logo (the swipe needs to begin outside of the screen), that'd be almost like having a working back button.

With that setup, 50 bucks for a One M7 would be a pretty nice deal!
