Hello. I'd like to ask a question as I need to upgrade a couple MacBook pro computers and I need to purchase some SSD adapters such as the ones linked below but I'm not sure which ones exactly.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/253380251897
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/263449601095

So I have a late 2013 MacBook pro 15" with 512Gb.
Also a late 2012 MacBook pro 15" retina with 256Gb.

I purchased this 1Tb Crucial M.2 SSD (Crucial MX300 1TB 3D NAND SATA M.2 (2280) Internal SSD - CT1050MX300SSD4).
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01L80DH1Y/...088100_TE_item

The problem is that it doesn't fit. I'd like the 1Tb SSD go to the late 2013 MBP 15", and then use the removed 512Gb SSD of the MBP 2013 in the 2012 MBP. So both computers get an upgrade.

After researching I'm getting just more confused, I wonder if you could shed some light.

Thank you so much for your help. Kind regards.

The connectors are different. 2012 and early 2013 drives use a different drive than the late 2013 and beyond MacBook Pro/Air

The 2012 you can use an mSATA adapter and mSATA drive, like this: https://www.amazon.com/SATA-mSATA-MACBOOK-Retina-Adapter/dp/B00OQG630U

Good news is that 2013 512GB drive you will have leftover has a pretty decent resale value.

Like the OP I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro 15" with 512Gb. I upgraded with a proper supported Apple 1TB SSD. It may cost a little more but it fits & works perfectly without tape or kernel panics & all sleep modes work correctly. Much of the cost can be defrayed by selling the 512GB SSD. The 1TB SSUBX can be found new & used. If you take your time & follow a few auctions on eBay you will get one at a reasonable price.
