I'm planning on trading in an iPhone 11 for credit towards a 13 pro, and I was going to preorder it to pick up in store, but it looks like that only allows you to trade in the old device through the mail. If I pick up the phone in store, are they able to give me credit for the trade in in store without having to ship it to Phobio? Would I then be able to apply that credit back to my credit card, or apply it to my order? I can't really seem to find any answers on Apple's trade in page, and Apple support wasn't really helpful. I would just go to the store, but don't really want to not preorder a phone and risk not getting it on release day. Thanks in advance!

I would go into the Apple store with your pre-reserved appointment.
Phobio is bad news.

Just get the full credit at the Apple store.

My last purchase (which could have changed) Apple staff helped moved my old phone data to new phone and then I just "turned " it in at the store - very easy

Since Apple won't be selling as many iPhone 13 series as iPhone 12, they will be more customer friendly.
Therefore, you won't have a problem trading it in at the store.

Separate trade-in question --- if I initiate an online trade in now for a gift card (to apply to, say, AWS8 later), how long do I have to send the phone back before they dishonor the trade-in amount?

I ordered iPhone 13 Pro for Oct. 20 delivery on Apple Upgrade Program so as to ditch my 12 Pro on AT&T. Need to pay off my AT&T finance (~700) and trade it in, but I want to time it all right so I get the $640 Apple is offering in credit (on gift card) and send it back about the time my iPhone 13 Pro arrives...but don't want to do it too early that Apple "cancels" my trade-in.

You have 14 days from when your trade in kit arrives. If you set up the trade as part of your phone purchase then the trade in kit will arrive at about the same time as your phone. If you set up the trade for a gift card, then the kit will arrive within a day or two.

I'm switching away from the iPhone Upgrade Program to just paying cash and trading in each year.

If I send an iPhone Upgrade Program iPhone 12 Pro in when my trade in kit arrives, will that phone be flagged? Do I have to pay off Citizens One first?

Or can I just keep paying Citizens One monthly, even though I will have sold the phone?

I just did 2 trade ins at Best Buy as they were giving $100 off each phone and $100 over the usual (bad) trade in values. Worked out easier and all up front vs Apple and the process was quick and painless. Handed phone over, took new ones, waited 15 minutes while they entered some info and that was it.

I've been trying to buy a 13 pro from Best Buy all weekend. There's no option to buy it online without selecting a carrier, but the site errors out when I put in my account details(T-mobile). I went in the store yesterday and 3 different geeks tried to process the sale, but they couldn't get into my account and thus literally couldn't sell me the phone 😐
