ok so I'm going to upgrade my 2012 base mac mini to ssd

I'm going with this crucial 120gb ssd, i checked my mac os and I'm only using 63gb out of the 500gb hardrvie so i should be good with 120gb
it will only be programs and the os
the ssd I'm buying
http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-I...1-1&keywords=Crucial+M500+120GB+SATA+2.5-Inch

the tools i need , i ordered this here
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E1RWDC6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i did a google search and somebody here recommended this ,so hopefully is the correct tools

now i plan to clone my hardrive to the ssd using the program carbon copy cloner
to do this i ordered this external ssd enclosure
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JQNXZC/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i will then boot up the mac using the ssd to make sure everything works

I'd skip carbon copy cloner and get an external enclosure for your old drive. Install mavericks fresh, then use migration assistant to move all if your programs and files. You can then use the old drive for extra storage or backup as needed.

I had trouble with the install
Everything went fine while removing the screws , I put the ssd in there
Now the metal part with holes that goes on top of the ssd that thing did not aligned with the screw holes no matter how I move it around
So that part only has 3 screws on it instead of the 4,
I took the mini to a local computer repair and they could not get that metal part to align either .
He said that maybe the heat made the metal shrink, I don't know but other then that
Everything works
So now if I take the mini to apple for repair I'm ****ed right ?

The shield with the holes has tabs on the curved edge which have to slide into a slot in the case shell. Doesn't sound like you are hitting that slot.

If I are you I would take a look at the MacSales Tech 2012 Mini videos to see how to do it, especially when your 2012 Mini was made.
