Hi:
I just bought a llnksys 2 port KVM switch to control two PCs through a single keyboard/ board. So far so good, though I was wondering, are there any potential pitfalls with KVMs? One concern I have is whether such a setup exposes both computers to power surges more than the standard set up. Just the fact that the KVM draws power from both PCs when they're on and channelling it makes me a little jittery.

Thanks,

Naw, I've never heard of such an issue. KVMing has been around for years... If this issue exists, it is definitely not common.

Thanks. I did do a search on "KVM switch power surge" in Google newsgroups, and got a few reports of a potential problem. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, when when your past PC had smoke coming out of the PSU on its own in the middle of the night, it tends to do something to you. :)
