Does the Voice Mail function actually download the Voice mail into the phone like a sound file? Or, how does it work?

Also, if one goes to a few websites, then goes back to the home button, if you hit Safari again to go back - does it retain your webpage(s) or does it blow it all out when you hit that home button and/or go to other apps? AND does it hold these sites in it's cache or would the sites be pulled up & reloaded forcing you to wait again each time.

Visual Voice Mail does download the file local to the phone. I just put my phone in "Flight Mode" (so it wasn't connected to anything) and I was still able to play my voice mails back.

My Safari always stays on the last site I left it on.

Interesting. These are good answers. :)
I might have a couple more questions on it later. Thank you.
